Through its 5th Birthday campaign, USAID is bringing attention to the issue that more than 7 million children die every year and before reaching their 5th birthday. That number is equivalent to the entire population of NYC! And, even more disturbing, most of these children will die from preventable causes, like malaria. These four were pumped to wear “World Malaria Day” caps and walk in Bushenyi’s malaria march on April 25, 2012. Organized by PCVs, volunteers at Health Partners Uganda, USAID, the parade went through main areas of town to create awareness within the community and bring together key national and international stakeholders.
